GREEN WORM

70,00

The line between the real and the imaginary is a delicate one. Just ask the author of Worms, Sponges and Other Green Invertebrates Found in the Mariana Trench (Basilea, 1679): though he claims all the specimens within his illustrations represent real animals, there are elements of his work which do not fit. For starters: its interest in feng shui, unheard of for worms, who are instead chaotic and messy beings. Or its fondness for pilates, yoga and meditation. Or for green juices. Or for growing quinoa… 10,000 metres deep! And not to mention, of course, its efforts against climate change. Or its support for Fishless Friday, the trans-Mariana movement to reduce fish consumption… in the ocean! And in the seventeenth century!
