And on them, too, our civilisation. What would have become of us without wheat, corn or oats? Or rice, which feeds half the inhabitants of the Earth? Not to mention the pleasures they provide us, such as our morning coffee or the spices that literally spice up our recipes. Or their usefulness as a raw material. Or their extraordinary beauty.
