AQUATIC MOON

50,00

From 1786 to 1821, the Micronesian illustrator and astrologist Alili Alilei recorded in his work Aftersun the various moons reflected on the waters of the Marianas, without interruption nor missing a single day. The project, monumental in itself, is even more moving when appreciated in person: an endless succession of sheets with hand-painted engravings recording each lunar cycle within this period. New moons, full moons, waxing crescents, waning crescents, even eclipses and some super moons, each one different, unique and unrepeatable. It was not easy, but in the end we agreed unanimously: it was from the crescent moon of January 10, 1802 (Marina Library, volume IV, book X, p. 396) that we would take our inspiration to design this earring.
