GLACIER

Glaciers are not landscapes. They are landscapers, sculptors who polish, grind and slice up the folds of the land over which they slide, without ever getting tired. Even when they dwindle, they continue to work away. It is obvious that they move by themselves and live in their own way. They are never still. Their advance, in any case, goes at different speeds. They can advance by thinning, retreat by thickening, or melt from within.
