HONEYCOMB

She watched it from a distance while it gorged noisily. When it had finished, it looked up at her and licked its nose with a long, thin, ant-eater´s tongue. Then it licked its chops with a tongue that seemed to have become short and fat. She sucked in her breath and stood quite, quite still. (Bear, Chap. V, pp. 23-24)
