Fungi create connections with trees and plants all over the planet, entangling, disentangling, and entangling themselves again. These are dynamic relationships, in which they receive a supply of sugars that they cannot synthesise by themselves in exchange for minerals. In this process, which began four hundred million years ago, the mycelium gains new knowledge, constantly learns and transfers its experience into the network’s DNA.
