RUMOURS
40,00 €
Both are married and share a house just a few metres away. Mrs Chan’s husband, a salesman by profession, is never at home, and Mr Chow’s wife works as a receptionist at night. Their loneliness is eternal. They barely speak, fearful that rumours may spread and those who live in the same building will end up tying up the loose ends: indiscretion comes at a high price. Enveloped in a suffocating atmosphere, the camera manages to make us feel like just another neighbour, lurking between the curtains, behind a window or through a mirror. The days go by, the nights follow one after the other, and their feelings grow, but their modest attraction is never put into practice. What if they were the disloyal ones? But no, they cannot commit the same sin or inflict the same damage. Their love will not be like the love of traitors and the unfaithful. “No”, they remind each other, “we are not like them”.
