THE DESIRE

It is often more interesting to imagine the life one has not lived. In the Mood for Love unfolds as a slow elegy for an unconsummated love, as an intense romance between two solitudes displaced from their respective marriages. Subtle glances, deliberate accidental brushes, paths intertwined by moments. The search for solace overflows through the corridors of 1960s Hong Kong, through its exuberant interiors. Time slips away between the fingers inexorably and overwhelms the impulses of the heart, leaving only the memory in its wake while the chest empties. It will then be the memory that fills those spaces, buried in the ruins of Angkor Vat, a millenary witness of silenced desires.
