SOLUM

Almost as if dancing, the Solum unfold their majestic fins across the Mariana Trench. Their origins are enigmatic. In the reign of the Toads (1905-1706 BC) they are said to have guarded treasures: largely fleeces, aegis and cosmic eggs of an incalculable value. Under the Wild Snappers (640 BC-462 BC) their guard was extended to the caves’ entrances: their imposing presence alone was enough to deter wrongdoers. Convinced that they could see beyond the physical world thanks to their prominent black eyes, the Laughing Otters (265 BC-67 AD) bestowed upon them the role of fortune tellers, decoding the capricious will of the gods with a movement of the brachia: there was no city, ceremony, festival or wall that was not subject to their consultation. The sacred properties of its tail were inexhaustible: it could both heal fish and interpret dreams.
