THAW

The natural snow cycle is now diminished. Snow no longer has time to freeze deep enough to rebuild these gigantic masses, which fracture normally under the effect of internal pressures. The glaciers do not taper off and then regain their volume. They look more and more like their children, the icebergs; they are bound to disappear quickly. If all the sounds fade away, if snowflakes no longer pile up on the rocky bases, if no ice covers the Earth, the world itself becomes lonely.
