The bowerbird

This bowerbird’s tower stands a metre above the forest floor, pointing to the sky like a beacon. And it truly is impressive, because he has built it with nothing more than his beak –the only tool at his disposal. At the base, he has stacked shells and mushrooms, while coins hang from the branches, glistening when the first rays of sunlight filter through. Here is now, posing in a nearby tree: clearly he is the best male in the neighbourhood, the one any girl would be foolish not to choose as a partner.
