Los años floridos

In the Mood for Love or, in Mandarin, that is “Fa yeung nin wa”, the title of a song of the same name, which functions as a metaphor for the fleeting time of youth, beauty and love. And this is what the film is all about, the forbidden feelings that flourish in the hearts of two lonely young people. The agonising drama of a true but undeclared love; of a love that is alive but discarded, not because of gossip or rumour, but because of its own conviction. Of love, ultimately, as the supreme force that produces us, that defines us in what we are: in our longing and in our joy, in our pain and in our yearning.
