Ovum

The ovum is a fascinating reminder of the biological diversity hidden in the Mariana Trench. Good-natured and calm, it usually spends its time amongst the algae, to which the females hook frozen eggs that take only a few minutes to mature and whose tadpoles hatch with stunning blue eyes. However, the most striking feature is its fertility, unprecedented in the animal world: it is estimated that every week they give birth to some two million new specimens. Considering that they live for over 20 years and that they never lose their fertility, the numbers are astounding: every ovum will launch a whopping 2,500,000,000 friendly tadpoles into the ocean.
