Tenebrism

Darkness assumes a symbolic prominence in Caravaggio. His figures are surrounded by darkness, which threatens to make them disappear. Details emerge from a mysterious clarity to emphasise shapes, volumes, and reliefs to poignant dramatic effect. Its penumbra is not empty, but inhabits the space, it has its own identity. A barely marked light, a deep darkness emanates from this earring that we created as a large shadow in the form of a black stain superimposed on a golden vine leaf to generate an enigmatic play of contrasts.
