HIDING PLACE

Ice induces a physical relationship, a sensitive body-to-body relationship. The indigenous peoples live with it, in a relationship of permanent proximity. When they interact with glaciers or the sea ice, they never neglect the scale of things. But they sometimes believe they are walking in the clouds. No more background, no more surface, no more planes. Hunters experience the embodied reality of contact with their environment. All their senses are on the alert. Suddenly, there is an animal lurking under the snow cover, very close to them. The mountain glacier is the lair of a legendary bear or the hiding place of a huge snake.
