Chiaroscuro

Caravaggio pushes the conflict between light and darkness to the limit. Until then, the illumination of the scenes came from outside, but now it emanates from inside the bodies. The shadow takes shape. It falls on itself. It is not linked to the figure but juxtaposed to it. Darkness exists where the light cannot reach.
