Group IX

Between 1906 and 1915, Hilma painted 193 works known as Paintings for the Temple, intended to fill a circular building where visitors would follow an ascending spiral path on a spiritual journey defined by her paintings—a synthesis of the prevailing ideas of the time, ranging from Buddhism, theosophy, and spiritualism to Darwin's theory of evolution.

This visionary place of worship was never built, but the works that were to compose it were, and from them comes this pendant based on the legend of Saint George and the Dragon, in which we redefine not only the color, scale, balance, and outline, but the scene itself, flooded with a wrathful red: the heads scream, howl, plead. Standing with sword raised, the saint appeals to divine forces. In our accessory, we transform the golden rings into a peaceful flower with red petals, holding the heart with a mirror finish that reflects light instead of absorbing it.
