The creation

Closed, the triptych is not what it seems. Painted using the grisaille technique, it depicts a transparent sphere where water separates from the earth. The light bounces off its walls. Across the sparse vegetation dusk falls, the twilight that filled the cosmos before the sun and the moon. This is the world on the third day of Creation, a world not yet sullied by man. Wearing a crown, God observes the world from on high with the Scriptures in his hands, which will soon be brought to life. Ipse dixit et jacta sunt. Ípse mandavit et creata sunt: “He spoke it and it was done. He commanded it and it was created”, reads the only inscription on the painting. So go ahead. Get yourself those earrings.
